SCHOOL GROUP TOURS
Experience farm life with Craig Starr and his amazing dogs at Gold Creek Station, a short 20 minutes from the CBD of Canberra.
Active and interactive
We encourage hands on experiences, lots of questions and as many photos as you please. Students watch our Kelpie dogs muster the sheep before we move into the shearing shed to learn how to shear a sheep and do all the jobs that make a real shearing shed work. All this active learning is followed by a good hearty BBQ lunch for those hungry kids!
The Starr family have been on Gold Creek Station for almost 50 years and are sixth generation farmers. This is not your usual ‘chalk and talk’, this is a hands on insight into the life of a typical Australian farming family.
Lunch Menu
We only serve good wholesome fresh food.
Each person receives:
2 beef sausages

DEMONSTRATIONS + LUNCH
Demonstrations
Your students will get to experience our Kelpie dogs rounding up a mob of sheep and then put them in a small yard. Some of the kids can help catch a sheep for everyone else to have a closer look.
From here we go to the shearing shed to see a sheep being shorn and see how a real shearing shed works.
Our demonstrations are fun, educational and hands on. We have had great feedback from school groups who enjoy the active program at Gold Creek Station.
Cost
$26.00 Per Person for demonstration including lunch
$16.00 Per Person for demonstration only
* Staff FOC. Discounts may apply to large School groups.
There are no big crowds at Gold Creek Station. We like to dedicate the site to one group at a time. This gives you a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
